"Sea Light" |
As a former educator,
I have taught art in public and private schools
and at the college and university level. I received a BS in Art from East
Tennessee State University and an MFA from Florida State University. For
the past twenty-five years, I have worked in oils, acrylics
and watercolors. I am a member of several professional
art organizations including Southern Colours, Southern Watercolor Society,
Georgia Watercolor Society, Portrait Society of Atlanta, and the Atlanta
Artists Center. I exhibit work in local, state and national
competitions and have received numerous awards in watercolor and oil
painting. My work has been featured on the Atlanta Artist Center’s web
site and shown in local publications.
My subject matter is eclectic in nature and includes portraits,
landscapes, still life and figures drawn from life. I paint from
sketches made on the scene and sometimes use photographs of the scene
for reference. The effect of light is the main element in my paintings.
I give emphasis to light’s angle, its brightness, and the manner in
which light and color constantly interact and affect the subject of a
painting. There are moments when the effects of light seem extraordinary
and it is the capturing of this effect that defines my work.
